Athletics

Clubs and Activities

Click on the club or activity for more information.

Purpose: To engage in arts appreciation on a national level and bring a better focus of arts into our school.

Purpose: A place to read a variety of novels picked by the group, share the joy of reading, and discuss great books.

Purpose: Members help students who need assistance find their way to class and other areas around the school. Buddies guide students through the lunch line, teach about different block schedules, and help get students involved in extracurricular activities that they might not be aware of.

Purpose: Bring people together, help new players learn the game, support freshman and new students in making friends, and improving their game.

Purpose: For beginners to learn how to play crochet; provide opportunities for peer learning and leadership; provide a comfortable, safe space for creativity.

Purpose: Allows marketing students to work on their communication skills, with their business knowledge in a competitive setting.

Purpose: An academic team that competes in the art of public speaking and acting. The team is affiliated with the Michigan Forensics Association (MFA).

Purpose: To promote alliance and friendship between LGBTQ and straight students; provide a safe space to talk about LGBTQ related topics.

Purpose: Promote gender equality in the area of digital literacy and programming.

Purpose: Provides members the opportunity to study topics of interest and skills required for future health care professionals. Members then compete with their acquired knowledge in designated skill events at the regional and national level (if qualified).

Purpose: Experiment with different types of music and bounce ideas off each other on already existent music or our own compositions.

Purpose: To discuss Jewish culture, share Jewish foods, play traditional games. Also to teach others about Jewish stereotypes and challenge biased thinking in our community.

Purpose: To educate, inspire, and support students that are interested in pursuing careers in healthcare. It provides students the opportunity to explore different medical professions, gain hands-on experience and learn skills in different medical careers.

Purpose: A group dedicated to assist the well being and cognitive health of every Walled Lake Central student and faculty member. Our goal is to enhance mental health awareness, reduce the stigma around emotional issues, and promote individual empowerment while creating a safe place for adolescents.

Purpose: Model United Nations is an extracurricular activity that simulates the workings of the United Nations.

Purpose: To inspire and recognize those students who have shown outstanding ability in art, further creative abilities and talents of club members, and bring art to the attention of the entire school and community.

Purpose: To honor Walled Lake Central's high academic juniors and seniors who excel through the Four Pillars of National Honor Society; Leadership, Character, Service and Academics.

Purpose: Promote conversations about identity and respect, create a community where all feel safe, and build skills to recognize and respond to incidents of bias, disrespect and hate.

Purpose: To discuss, interpret, analyze, and enjoy the many topics within the field of psychology. Members would engage with activities, real-life experiences and phenomena that would further their knowledge and understanding of psychology.

Purpose: Quiz Bowl is a trivia based club where teams can go to compete in tournaments. Questions come from all areas of knowledge, just like trivia.

Purpose: To have students engage in social interactions and give them opportunities for training and leadership development.

Purpose: Educational robotics strengthen and support students' skills developing their knowledge through the creation, design, assembly, and operation of robots.

Purpose: Explore the culture of the Spanish-speaking world and provide fun social activities.

Purpose: To assist Walled Lake Central in remaining a student-oriented, communication based educational establishment, to set examples in the community, and voice the opinion of the student body to foster an overall positive morale for all of Walled Lake Central.

Purpose: To bring awareness to the dangers of drugs and what to do in case of drug related emergencies. This will be accomplished via monthly meetings, campaigns, creating posters/videos, and bringing in guest speakers to further educate students.

Purpose: Students will learn the technical side of production including lighting, sound, video, rigging and stage management. Students will have the opportunity to work events in the auditorium such as concerts, dance recitals, and ethic celebrations.

Purpose: To do volunteer work in the Walled Lake Central and wider community.

Purpose: Winter program open to all percussion students attending Central, Northern, and Western High Schools.

Purpose: Winter program open to students interested in spinning flags, rifles, and sabres attending Central, Northern, and Western High Schools.

Purpose: The Walled Lake Wizards is a club centered around Dungeons and Dragons, a strategy and teamwork oriented table top game.

Purpose: To bring live music to aging individuals that live in a local assisted care facility and suffer from dementia and other types of cognitive loss. WLC students would bring their instruments and individually play musical selections for residents.

Purpose: Ping Pong can provide a range of social, physical, and mental benefits to students during the winter season, making it a valuable addition to the school's extracurricular offerings. It helps students stay active and reduce stress.

Purpose: Promote and encourage females to engage in STEM fields

Purpose: To involve students directly in the writing, editing and publishing of the yearbook.
