Margaret Oakley named new assistant principal at Walnut Creek Middle School

The Walled Lake Consolidated Schools’ Board of Education appointed Margaret Oakley the new assistant principal at Walnut Creek Middle School at its special meeting on July 13, 2026.

“I am honored to join this incredible school community and look forward to partnering with Principal Taboh, our outstanding staff, students and families to make this a wonderful school year,” said Oakley. “I am incredibly thankful for the opportunity to now become part of a school that is so committed to supporting students and fostering meaningful relationships.”

Oakley comes to Walnut Creek Middle School from Waterford School District, where she served as a teacher leader for the past three years and taught social studies for nearly a decade. In her role as a teacher leader, Oakley led professional learning, coached teachers, facilitated PLCs and supported data-driven instructional practices. She also recently earned a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University, holds a Michigan School Administrator Certificate and is a participant in the Oakland Schools Aspiring Principals Leadership Academy.

“It is my belief that the strongest schools are built through partnership,” said Oakley. “I look forward to getting to know each of you, learning about your children and working together to ensure every student has a positive and successful middle school experience.”

“Margaret Oakley brings a passion for learning and a strong belief in the power of relationships to Walnut Creek Middle School,” said Dr. Michael Lonze, Superintendent of Schools. “Her experience in fostering student growth has prepared her well for this next step, and we are excited to see the positive impact she will have as she joins the Walnut Creek community.”
