A pair of Walled Lake Northern gymnastics qualify for state meet

Walled Lake Northern freshmen Kate Anderson and Aubrey Atwood punched their tickets to the MHSAA State Gymnastics Championships over the weekend finishing in the Top 6 in their respective events at the regional championships.

Anderson will compete on the bars after placing fourth overall at regionals. She tallied a score of 8.375. Atwood earned a spot in the Beam state finals with a score of 8.875 and sixth place finish at regionals.

Walled Lake Gymnastics finished fifth overall as a team with a score of 132.075. That is the program's highest place at the regional championships since 2014, when the team competed at the MHSAA State Championships.

The MHSAA State Gymnastics Individual Championships are Saturday, Noon, at Milford High School.
