A pair of Vikings take home state titles at the MHSAA Division 1 Meet
Walled Lake Central seniors Garrod Alexander and Giovanni Charles capped their high school careers at the top of the podium at the MHSAA Division 1 State meet on Saturday at East Kentwood High School.
Alexander took home the Shot Put state title with an incredible throw of 64’ 1.25”, which was more than five feet further than the second-place finisher.
Charles claimed the High Jump state title clearing an impressive 6’ 8”, which was two inches higher than the second-place jumper.
Along with Alexander and Charles, Walled Lake Western’s Rodney Endsley and the Warriors 4x200 meter relay team also placed in the Top 8 earning All-State honors in their respective events. Endsley took second in the 400 meter dash with a time of 48.22 seconds. Endsley was the final leg of the 4x200 meter relay team as well, which took eighth with a time of 1:27.52. Also on the relay team was Kayson Legg, Timon Dogan and Troy Temple.
