Senior Incentive

Semester 2 Senior Attendance Incentive

WHY: Students have demonstrated proficiency through assessments, presence in class, and participation, when they have displayed good attendance (present 90% or more of scheduled class periods per semester) and a semester grade that reflects above-average (80% or higher) performance in a class.

WHAT: In these cases, the student will be “held harmless” on the semester/“final” exam in that class. Each class is evaluated individually.

WHEN: Semester 2, 2025-2026

WHO: Only seniors (Class of 2026) are eligible.

HOW: The semester exam can only help a student’s grade, not lower it. Students who choose to take the final exam will be assigned the higher grade: Either their semester grade before the exam, or their grade after the exam has been factored into the semester grade.

The following are exceptions: Religious holidays, documented medical absences, and school-related absences (field trips, WLCSD athletics, etc.) are exempt. Medical documentation from a medical practitioner must be submitted within 1 week of the medical-related absence to the attendance office.

Students meeting the criteria below will be "held harmless" for semester exams. The results of the exams can only raise their grade, no lower it, in classes in which they qualify for the incentive.

  • Present Attendance: Present for 90% or more of class periods in a semester. This equates to missing no more than 7 class periods per class through May 15th.
  • Tardies: 3 tardies are counted as 1 absence for the purpose of this incentive.
  • Academic Grade: Above Average (B-/80%) or high in Skyward on May 15
